Humans of NY

The humans of new york story I read felt like a personal narrative someone had been wanting to share for ages. The interviews come across like Moth radio hours sometimes, almost like the interviewee had a great sense of pacing and story arc. This was one of those stories. The buildup and sadness involved with watching the narrator's broken household led do a beautiful resoloutiuon where his mother found fulfillment as an actress in the play her son wrote. The interview could have easily been prompted by the success of the play. But instead, the story is about the narrator's mother and the sad nostalgia she had for days long past. The play isn't just about her, it's for her and this makes the resolution where the curtain comes up on opening night really impactful. The photo captures the old-school classic movie star looks of the mother, and also gives a visual for the genuine happiness she feels on stage. The interview might have been longer than this, but the author does an excellent job of pulling out the best and most impactful lines that show a three part arc.
