Snowy Words

Word list: cold, wet, magical, flaky, quiet, pretty, clean, smooth, new, untouched
This picture is the result of my sisters' snowman contest.

The snow falls around us, silently, creating the illusion that there is nothing else in the world. There's something mesmerizing about looking up into the sky as the snow falls and blocking out the rest of the world. The snowflakes swirl and dance out of the sky, looking for somewhere to land, as they cling onto tree branches and pile up on rooftops. Later on, we'll all be pulling out our shovels, mumbling under our breath about cleaning off our cars, but for now, there's still a certain magic about it.

I thought "Poems About Trees" was very strange and unpredictable. I never quite knew where it was going with the next line. It sort of felt like reading a parody of a poem or some kind of satire. My favorite line was probably the very end "kids are stupid / $10" because at that point I had no clue what the poem was even about. I can usually analyze things fairly well, but I really didn't know what to do with this one. The video about trees was very dramatic in a way that I didn't think trees could be. It made me think a lot about nature and how it's something that's alive, which is something I think I tend to overlook in my daily life. This was similar to the winter short we read that talked a lot about nature and what it feels like in winter.
