Life's greatest lessons

 Hey everyone!

I’m Shane and I’m an english/journalism major here at UNH. Picking a favorite of something usually isn’t a strong suit of mine, but considering that I’ve read this book multiple times, I think this was a perfect choice.

Tuesdays With Morrie is all about the human experience, and how to live a meaningful life when we’re constantly compelled to do otherwise. It follows the weekly meetings of author Mitch Albom and his former college professor Morrie Schwartz, who had been diagnosed with ALS. Each Tuesday, Morrie gives insight to Mitch on how to make the most out of your time on Earth.

I’ve always enjoyed this book for it’s life lessons. It’s so easy to get caught up in factors that won’t mean anything in the end, specifically material possessions and values that society teaches us to chase. The lessons that Morrie teaches Mitch have really helped me shape my own path in life, and dedicate myself to the things that I find important rather than what everyone else does.

“So many people walk around with a meaningless life. They seem half-asleep, even when they're busy doing things they think are important. This is because they're chasing the wrong things. The way you get meaning into your life is to devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to your community around you, and devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning.”
